Meet Julia Humberstone
Life is made up of many experiences, and how we make sense of them can influence our wellbeing, relationships, and sense of self. At times, having support can help us navigate these moments with greater clarity and care.
About Julia
Julia Humberstone holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Art Therapy and supports individuals to explore emotions, navigate life experiences, and reconnect with themselves through expressive arts therapy and nature-informed practice.
Professional Experience
Julia has experience working with diverse clients presenting with complex challenges related to addiction and mental health. Her work has involved supporting individuals navigating emotional distress, life transitions, and recovery through creative and reflective therapeutic processes.
Creative Journey
Julia’s journey toward expressive arts therapy grew from an appreciation of the ways creativity can support emotional insight, healing, and personal growth.
Integrated Practice
Julia’s work integrates expressive arts therapy and ecotherapy perspectives while drawing on an understanding of the neurobiology of human experience. This approach allows therapy to move beyond conversation alone, inviting reflection through creative and sensory experience.
My Therapeutic Approach
Creative Expression
My approach to expressive arts therapy is grounded in the understanding that creativity can offer meaningful ways of exploring emotions, experiences, and personal meaning. Through art materials, imagery, movement, imagination, and playful exploration, individuals are invited to engage with their inner world in ways that may feel more accessible than words alone.
Curiosity and Creative Process
Creative processes invite curiosity and reflection, allowing images and expressions to emerge, shift, and transform over time. This evolving process can support new perspectives, emotional awareness, and a deeper connection with oneself. Sessions are adapted to support the individual needs and experiences of each person.
Nature-Informed Practice
I also integrate ecotherapy perspectives into my work, recognising the restorative and grounding qualities of the natural environment. Nature can offer a gentle space for reflection, where storytelling, imagination, and sensory awareness may support resilience, self-connection, and new ways of relating to life experiences.
Why Eunoia
The word Eunoia describes a state of beautiful thinking and emotional wellbeing — a sense of being gently aligned with oneself and the world.
The name reflects the intention of this practice: to offer a supportive space where people can pause, reflect, and reconnect with their inner experiences.
Eunoia Expressive Arts Therapy invites curiosity, imagination, and gentle exploration as pathways toward deeper understanding and personal growth.
Creative Exploration and Reflection
Creativity remains an important part of my own reflective practice. Through drawing, collage, sculpture, photography, and nature-based exploration, I continue to explore how creative expression can support emotional insight, connection, and wellbeing.
